Fifty youngsters aged 7-13 years from Dawlish and surrounding areas enjoyed a two-day ‘Football in the Community’ course at Dawlish Community College during the Easter Holidays.  The course consisted of structured coaching sessions together with ‘fun orientated competitions’ and small sided games.

 

 ‘Football in the Community’ Officer and First team player Adam Shearer headed the course.  Other UEFA qualified coaches for the course included Dawlish Town players Lee Fenner and Marcus Pritchard, who also coaches the Ladies team and Newton Spurs player Tom Chisholm.

 

Shearer commented ‘ It was really pleasing to work with such an enthusiastic bunch of players.  We have also been particularly pleased with the number of youngsters that are coming to watch Dawlish Town games this season, especially as we are going so well and pushing for promotion.  We have worked really hard to promote the Club this season and are delighted with the response we have had’

 

Shearer was also quick to heap praise on local sponsors ‘Peppers School of Motoring’ Peppers have been the main sponsors for all areas of the club this season but always show a particular interest in the ‘Community Programme’ that we deliver.  We are really grateful for their support.

 

All of the players on the course received Match Tickets and certificates.  There were also trophies, medals and prizes for competition winners.

 

Competition Winners: PENALTY CHAMPION Junior- Harvey Joe Hannaford, Senior-Jordan Dobbin, FREE KICK SPECIALIST Junior- Jamie Middleton, Senior-James Jones, 5 A SIDE TOURNAMENT Junior-Spain, Senior-Austria PLAYER OF THE COURSE Junior-Becky Aston, Senior-Tom Wills .

 

Tom Coxon was also the lucky winner of a football in the FUN PRIZE DRAW.

DAWLISH TOWN FOOTBALL IN THE COMMUNITY

 

Seventy football crazy youngsters aged 6-13 years from Dawlish and surrounding areas enjoyed another two-day ‘Dawlish Town Football in the Community’ course at Dawlish Community College during the Half Term break.  The course consisted of structured coaching sessions together with ‘fun orientated competitions’ and small sided games.

 

Under the guidance of Football in the Community Officer Adam Shearer the qualified coaches for the course also included First team manager Chris Myers, Dawlish Ladies assistant manager Marcus Pritchard and local coach Tom Chisholm.

 

All of the players on the course received T-shirts and certificates as well as receiving a FREE ticket to Dawlish Towns Devon Bowl match against PLYMOUTH ARGYLE on the Wednesday night.  There were also trophies, medals and prizes for competition winners.

 

Competition Winners: PENALTY CHAMPION Junior- Thomas Price, Senior-Greg Weeks, FREE KICK SPECIALIST Junior-Charlie Mares, Senior-Martyn Thomas, 5 A SIDE TOURNAMENT Junior-Bayern Munich, Senior-Manchester Utd, PLAYER OF THE COURSE Junior-Harvey Hannaford, Senior-Ben Whatmore .

 

Three lucky players also won a Special prize each in the FUN PRIZE DRAW.  They were Alex Gibbon who won a FOOTBALL, Caleb Reed who won a day as a MASCOT with Dawlish Town and Dan Ranger who won a pair of FOOTBALL BOOTS.

 

Shearer commented ‘ As coaches we were again really pleased with how the youngsters applied themselves over the two-days. We were particularly pleased to see so many girls attend the course. To cap an excellent 2 days all players were invited to watch our First team convincingly beat a youthful Plymouth Argyle 4-1 which they thoroughly enjoyed.’

 

Shearer also added ‘ Our community scheme has another extremely busy term visiting and delivering football based sessions to Teignbridge based Primary and Secondary Schools.  It has been great to generate such interest with the football club especially as the First team have been doing so well and are striving for promotion to the Southern League together with reaching the Devon Bowl semi final and Les Phillips Cup quarter finals to be played soon.

Thirty youngsters aged 7-12 years from Dawlish and surrounding areas enjoyed a two-day ‘Football in the Community’ course at Dawlish Community College during the Half Term break.  The course consisted of structured coaching sessions together with ‘fun orientated competitions’ and small sided games.

 

 The coaches for the course included ex Dundee United, Exeter City and Torquay United player and current First Team Manager Chris Myers alongside Dawlish Town Assistant Manager and midfielder Adam Shearer who heads the ‘Football in the Community’ department at Dawlish Town.

 

Shearer commented  “As coaches we were really pleased with how the youngsters applied themselves over the two-days.  Some players really showed some potential and as a result of this, one player has been invited to train with a ‘Plymouth Argyle Youth Development’ centre.’

 

All of the players on the course received T-shirts, Match Tickets and certificates. There were also trophies, medals and prizes for competition winners.

Adam Shearer also added “The last six weeks has been a really busy and productive period which has seen us visit and work in several schools in the Dawlish and Teignmouth area to promote football and generally raise awareness of ‘healthy eating’ and ‘regular exercise’.  This term shall be even busier as we are taking on more schools.  We have been giving FREE match tickets to all pupils and it has been great to see many of them attend our First Team matches and show a genuine interest in Dawlish Town Football Club’

3 Day Course

August 7th, 8th and 9th saw the 'Football in the Community' department hold their first ever course at Dawlish Community College. Young players from Dawlish and surrounding areas were invited along to participate in coaching sessions and enter into fun orientated competitions with medals, trophies and prizes being presented to the winners. The course was headed by UEFA B Licence Community Officer Adam Shearer who commented ' As it was our first course I was pleased with the way things went. We had 9 players attend but that gives us a base to build on and considering we havent starting coaching in the schools yet I was particularly happy' The emphasis of the course was fun and enjoyment and all players who attended were presented with a free T-shirt, a certificate and a match ticket to a first team game. The course was kindly sponsored by Peppers School of Motoring. The next course will be during the October Half Term.
