Evans in shock exit

Kerswell named as successor

JEFF Evans has been sacked as Dawlish Town boss, with Adam Kerswell returning to the club to fill the vacant hotseat.

Town chairman Dave Fenner has confirmed to the Gazette that Evans, along with his assistant Chris Porter, were relieved of their duties last Wednesday.

Evans had been searching for a goalscorer ever since Emati-Emati stepped up three divisions to join Blue Square South outfit Dorchester Town just before Christmas.

Boss to give youngsters their chance

DAWLISH Town manager Jeff Evans is planning to give at least two of the club’s rising stars their fair share of first-team action between now and the end of the season.

Young debutant Josh Pearson impressed Evans when he replaced Sean Adderley as a second-half substitute at Sherborne Town on Saturday, a match which finished in a 2-2 draw (match report page 26).

Fenner wants Compton on board

Dawlish Town chairman Dave Fenner has revealed that he is in talks with former Torquay United coach Paul compton about setting up a youth development scheme at the Toolstation Western League Club.

Compton - who has also worked with the youngsters at current Coca-Cola Chapionship outfits Swansea City, Cardiff City and West Bromich Albion - has had two spells within the youth department in Torquay....
